What to expect?
Karen has been hiring staff and freelancers for many years across production and post production roles for UK-based TV series and accounts for global communication agencies. The 60-minute session will offer participants a unique insight into how employers decide on whether to call you in for an interview after looking through your portfolio or not. There will be specific good and bad case studies and a range of useful hints and tips to help draw up a winning portfolio.
Karen Milligan learnt her craft as a Producer/Director with 15 years’ experience in factual TV production for ITV, the BBC and many more. She has held positions as Creative Director for global communications agencies and delivered industry-based training. Karen is a passionate filmmaker and a driven leader, championing the talents of her team and building a culture to nurture their skills and offer a fresh, agile approach to film production that is needed now more than ever. This session is designed to be a pre-requisite for an in-depth 2-day face to face course delivered at MCUK in Autumn 2021 covering: strategic planning for portfolios, eye catching showreels, targeting companies for work, being freelance, getting the CV right and exploring the importance of social media.
