We are based over two campus locations in Salford, Peel Park Campus and Media City Campus, both well served by fantastic transport links connecting us with Manchester city centre and beyond.
Peel Park Campus

Getting here bytrain
Salford Crescent station is located between the Peel Park and Frederick Road campuses.
Direct services run to and from Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria, as well as Blackpool, Bolton, Buxton, Blackburn, Southport, Preston, Lancaster, and Barrow-in-Furness.
Inter-city services normally use Manchester Piccadilly which is about a ten-minute train journey from Salford Crescent.
Don’t mistake Salford Central for Salford Crescent, otherwise, you’ll end up with a 20-minute walk ahead of you.
There are planned improvement works scheduled at Salford Crescent station. This means the station will close for three weekends between March and September 2025. Find out more on our travel updates page.

Getting here bybus
You can get on any of the following buses, which will take you to The Crescent (right outside the university front entrance for Peel Park):

Getting here bybike
If you’re coming in by bike, there is a 300 space Cycle Hub operated by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) at Media City running on a membership model. Additionally, there are docking stations for the yellow TfGM Starling Bank Bikes on and around our campuses. These bikes can be located and hired via the Starling Bank Bike app.

If you’re coming in by e-scooter, currently Lime run an E-Scooter hire scheme licenced by Salford City Council. There are several dedicated parking locations in and around our campuses. Scooters can be located and hired via the Lime App.

If you’re travelling to us by car, spaces in our car parks are limited, so please do plan ahead of your visit. For those who need access to electric vehicle charging points, we have a total of eight on campus and a public charging point outside Crescent House.

Manchester Airport is just a 20-minute drive from MediaCity and Peel Park Campus
You can also catch a train from the airport to Manchester Piccadilly station, followed by a tram to MediaCity or a train to Salford Crescent if you prefer (see above information).

Getting here byTram
Easily accessible by tram, with direct services to MediaCity and services that stop just within walking distance.
You can either get a tram to MediaCity and get off at MediaCity or get a tram towards Eccles but get off at Harbour City or Broadway which will leave you with a 5-minute walk.
Trams to Harbour City will be every 6 minutes, while trams to MediaCity will be every 12 minutes
Getting here byBus
The number 50 bus, operated by Stagecoach, runs every 10-15 minutes from Manchester city centre. The bus travels past the university’s main Peel Park campus, as well as Salford Shopping Centre, and then on to MediaCity: its final destination.
The bus operates between 07:00 and 23:00 Monday-Friday, and between 08:00 and 18:00 at the weekend.
The X50 runs every 15 minutes from Manchester city centre to the Trafford Centre via Salford Quays. MediaCity is just a few minutes’ walk from the Imperial War Museum stop on Trafford Wharf Road, via the footbridge over the Manchester Ship Canal.

If you’re planning to travel by bike, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have also developed a Cycle Hub at MediaCity which offers membership-based smart card access and can accommodate up to 300 bicycles.

For those who need to travel by car, the link road with the M602 motorway gives drivers the option to approach MediaCity from either end of the Broadway. The M602 provides onward linkages to major routes leading in all directions.

Accommodation
There are plenty of options if you are looking to stay within the vicinity. Manchester city centre has a range of hotels, The Holiday Inn Manchester West is situation about 1mile away on foot. There are also a number of hotels based near the university’s Media City campus which is served by a direct bus route between the campuses
There are AirBnB and other self-catering options based within Media City and Manchester city centre as an alternative option.
There is a Premier Inn based in Swinton which is situated around 3 miles away and has a direct route into the university and is well served by buses.

Food/ Refreshments:
There are several options. The Old Fire Station café is operated by the university and is situated opposite the main campus on the Crescent.
There is a Co-op store also situated on The Crescent, along with several take away restaurants.
Salford shopping centre has a Subway, large Tesco, Costa, KFC, Aldi and Lidl and is accessible via a walk, car or buses.
The university has several on-campus cafes, and the Student Union has a bar situated on campus.
